Almost every year, I see a team that is .500 at the deadline, yet trades away players so they can have a chance at a top 4 draft pick. So instead of 8 wins, they end up with 3. The difference now is they lose an additional 500k for dropping from 8 wins to 3. In the end, it won't make much of a difference, but will be a small reward for teams that don't attempt to tank.
