In front of a packed house at MetLife Stadium, it was a calm yet cold day as the Salem Steers battled the Atlanta Alligators.

Salem won the toss and deferred, and Atlanta immediately struck. On the second play of the game, Russell Wilson hit Pierre Garcon for 60 yards, setting up a 1st and goal from the 10. Salem held however, so Atlanta settled for a FG. Atlanta 3 Salem 0

Salem got the ball and quickly moved into field goal position, but stalled and settled as well. Atlanta 3 Salem 3

Atlanta got the ball, and on a 3rd and 21, Wilson hit Julio Jones for 26 yards. Atlanta once again settled for a FG but took the lead. Atlanta 6 Salem 3

Once again Salem moved the ball as well, down to the Atlanta 26. But LB Lawrence Timmons intercepted a Sam Bradford pass. On the very next play, Wilson hit Garcon on a screen pass, and Pierre took it 76 yards for the TD! Atlanta 13 Salem 6

On the 2nd play of Salem's next drive, CB Keenan Lewis stepped in front of a Bradford pass for another interception! Atlanta could not move the ball, but already in FG range, Scobee hit from 44 to extend the lead. Atlanta 16 Salem 3

Salem had seen enough. Enter Michael Vick. On Vick's 5th snap of the day, he too threw an INT, as Lewis picked off his second of the day. Atlanta stalled, punting for the first time. Salem took over at the 20 and slowly moved the ball down the field. A 15 play drive that took 7 minutes off the clock.

Salem reached the 2 yard line and faced 4th down. Salem decided to go for it on 4th and goal from the two, and Bradford connected with Alshon Jeffrey. A big conversion that put Salem back in the game. Atlanta 16 Salem 10

Atlanta took over with 1:12 left in the half. After two quick runs, Wilson threw 3 incomplete passes. Morehead's punt only went 31 yards and Tandon Doss brought it back 14, putting Salem on their own 43. Bradford found Jeffrey for 23 yard and he stepped out with 2 seconds left. Adam Vinatieri hit from 52 yards as time expired, and what looked like an Atlanta romp was now tight.

Halftime: Atlanta 16 Salem 13

Salem took over to start the 3rd, and Bradford found his groove on a 15 play, 80 yard drive, going 7 for 9 on the drive that ended with a Chris Ivory 4 yard TD run, and Salem had their first lead of the game. Atlanta 16 Salem 20

Atlanta would move into Salem territory quickly, thanks to a Wilson to Dez Bryant completion for 21 yards. However, Wilson could not connect on back to back downs, forcing a punt. Salem took over on their 8 yard line and fed Chris Ivory 9 times on a 12 play drive that ended with Bradford connecting with Victor Cruz for a 23 yard TD pass. Atlanta 16 Salem 27

With 13 minutes left, Atlanta still had time. But Russell Wilson fumbled on the 2nd play of their drive. Ivory ran 6 times to the 1 yard line where Salem kicked a FG. Again Atlanta got the ball, but Wilson got picked off by Tyron Mathieu, which pretty much sealed the deal.

Final: Atlanta 16 Salem 33

Despite throwing 2 early INTs and briefing getting bench, Sam Bradford was named MVP, going 17 for 22 with 239 yards and 2 TDs.
