Just wanted to toss this around before presenting it. Last year(I think) we went from a 50 to 52 man roster but the salary cap didn't change. Would it be possible to either raise the salary cap or be able to place 2 players on like a taxi squad that their salary wouldn't work against you? Not sure about the logistics or if its even a good idea but thought it was worthy of discussion.

What problem(s) is solved by doing this?

I think raising the cap just gives everyone $x more to spend which means the average salaries will increase. Whereas the average salary probably decreased when the roster was raised to 52 without increasing the cap.

How would the taxi squad work? Would they be treated like current year rookie players (salaries don't count and you cannot use them in the current season)? If they can't play, isn't that going to dilute the talent an teams? We would have up to 48 players who would be on a roster but who could not play. If they were able to play, then why not just increase rosters from 52 to 54?
