I currently have the Free Agent Draft scheduled for June 18 through July 14. However, that includes the July 4th Independence Day holiday in the USA. I did not think that would be a problem since July 4 is a Wednesday this year and I did not think people would be traveling away from home on the holiday. And at that time we are drafting $100,000 salary players (see below) who are backups and roster fillers. However, is there any reason to suspend the draft that one day (July 4th only)?

The current schedule would be:
Mon 6/18: Round 1: $10 million & Round 2: $7.5 million
Tue 6/19: Rounds 3-4: $5.0 million
Wed 6/20: Rounds 5-6: $4 million
Thu 6/21: Rounds 7-8: $3 million
Fri 6/22: Rounds 9-10: $2 million

Mon 6/25: Rounds 11-12: $2 million
Tue 6/26 Rounds 13-14: $1 million
Wed 6/27: Rounds 15-16: $1 million
Thu 6/28: Rounds 17-18: $500,000
Fri 6/29: Rounds 19-20: $500,000

Mon 7/2: Rounds 21-22: $300,000
Tue 7/3: Rounds 23-24: $300,000
7/4 - Until we are finished: Rounds 25-## : $100,000

Thanks for the feedback. As in the past, we will be drafting on Monday through Friday only. No drafting on Saturday or Sunday.

I think we should revisit this. My preference would be to have as little of the draft occur in July. The summer is the best and only time I can take vacations. We moved the draft back because of the disk coming out later - but doesn't it really affect anything? Currently, we are just sitting around - waiting for the draft to take place.

No dates/schedule will work for everyone. With 24 members, that is impossible! I do the best I can.
Obviously I am a bit selfish and also consider my work schedule. But then, I have to since I am doing all of the administrative work to set up, monitor and manage both drafts.

The current schedule is:
5/26- June 1 Roster Cut Down Week. We MUST do this before the free agent draft. Then I need time to create, verify and test all the information on the free agent draft site before we can draft. That takes 3-5 days, depending on my work schedule.

6/10-6/14 - Rookie Draft. We COULD move this up, but we have three new members who have never drafted before and I want to have them go through a trial/mock draft first so they are familiar with the draft website before we do the real thing.

Trade Period - We usually have a 2-3 week trading period before the Free agent draft. I am open to reducing / eliminating this if we want to move the draft up

Starting July 1 - Free agent draft

Free Agent Draft Rounds / Day - I did a poll last year and there was a general consensus we should have FOUR rounds per day instead of TWO rounds per day. But no consensus what round that should begin at. The $1,000,000 and $300,000 salary rounds obtained the most votes. If we do this, it should eliminate 3-5 days of the draft.

My job is MUCH busier the first 3-4 days of each month and we are selling a division of our business on June 15, So June 13-17 will be nuts for me. We just closed on the sale of another division Thursday and I've been working 14 days all week. So my work schedule will impact this unless someone else wants to learn how to run the draft and the administrative work, which I can assure you won't happen in such a short time frame.

IF we want to move the draft up to accommodate Jeff and any others (again, NO dates will be perfect for anyone) I would suggest we
- Move the Rookie draft up a week to the week of June 3.
- Either reduce or eliminate the pre-free agent draft trading period and start the week after or two weeks after the Rookie draft with the understanding I may have to suspend the draft the around June 13-17 if my work schedule is as crazy as I suspect.

IF we are going to do something like this we need to decide immediately as I have lots of things to accomplish if we are making a change,

Feedback please,.

I say leave it as is. I understand not wanting to draft during vacation time but, I have done it. I’ll be drafting on the road during the rookie draft this year. I think it’s too late in the process to change things at this point.

I didn't mean to cause an issue. I figured not drafting in July would be beneficial to most everyone. If its not, I will deal with it.
