I'm opposed. That is 24 more quality players taken out of the free agent pool.
Roster spot #53 is a "quality player"? I doubt it. More likely it is a extra rookie player drafted in a late round or a $100k free agent. A part of my reasoning for proposing this is with all the NFL injuries in 2017, teams are going to have to be very diligent about # of games played and I suspect there will be many more free agent signings, which adds to my administrative burden.
I'm not sure you would see less FA movement. its more likely this spot would be drafted for future value. I would say if you want to reduce in season free agents, just get rid of it and make the teams responsible for covering there injuries throughout the draft? just thinking out loud. i'm not married to this idea. :)
