Does anyone know why KRFL uses 52 man rosters instead of 53, which is what the NFL uses? Is it because we only have 24 teams and so we only use about 75% of the actual NFL players? Or do we use 52 players because we do not use "active" rosters for games (the NFL allows 46 of the 53 players to dress for games while we allow all 52).
Neither. It is just an agreed upon number - close to the NFL, but not tied to it. The roster size used to be 50 but was increased by two a few years ago.
I am ok with 52, it is just awkward from a administrative/record keeping standpoint because I have the number "53" in my head because of the NFL roster size.
