Inverness and Alabama attempted to direct connect and play a practice game today. We do this annually to check our connections for online play. We were unsuccessful to both host and join despite turning off firewall, antivirus, etc. We've used Hamachi in the past to connect, but something has changed in my .exe file and it no longer runs. Has anyone else attempted to direct connect and join/host using the 2014 game? Any suggested alternatives to Hamachi? Thanks.
You can no longer use Hamachi unless you pay for it (since Logmein.com bought it). The free version we've been using has been disabled. I suspect that is your problem.
I've received two emails from league members who are having no problems using Hamachi in their summer leagues. I also played a scrimmage tonight and Hamachi worked fine. It could be the case that the problems with Hamachi are more rumor than reality. It is equally plausible that after being bought out by LogMeIn, the support for the free Hamachi is being phased out and that some are affected while others are not. Right now, I don't see any need to move to a new program yet and think we should just monitor the situation. For Alabama and Inverness, please try to connect with someone else so we can troubleshoot your situation. I'm available to test it out.

I had an issue with Hamachi after registering the free version. After the trial period ended I was required to buy the program. I unnistalled Hamachi, re-downloaded the free trial version but did not register it and have had no problems using it to connect.
Salem and Lakeland tried multiple times to connect tonight, both with and without hamachi. And every time, we got a runtime error, usually runtime 63. We both have updated software. We messaged Dave regarding our issues, but we spent half an hour trying to connect and could not.
